Bank Holiday Sunday was a fantastic, beautiful blue-sky day. 50 riders along with plenty of volunteers and supporters cheered them leaving Malton & Norton RUFC at the Gannock.
The route was either a 25km for the non-cyclist or 50km for the more able. Both were a challenge as we ascended hill after hill on the Wolds. The ‘Burythorpe Beast’ was the worst one, with many being beaten into submission and had to walk up.
Not only was it the Malton Food Festival but the ride coincided with the Sledmere Bike Ride and a local Tractor Run which made the ride more of a challenge.
Jo Green said ‘Well done Stuart Duff for being the fastest, it was good to be there to support you and the rest of the bikers raising money for such a worthy cause.’
Chris Wilson said ‘Great day and cracking route!’
Our thanks go to sponsors Nestle and John Tate Smith. The ride was the brain child of Alistair Duncan who was supported by a strong team of volunteers, so thanks to all of them too. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the day as the ride was full of challenges even if you were a good rider.
